Howick Golf Club is located on Auckland’s Musick Point peninsula with magnificent sweeping views over the Hauraki Gulf. The club is recognized as a friendly, welcoming club providing a wonderful setting for members and visitors who appreciate a challenging and enjoyable playing and social experience.

The Role

Reporting directly to General Manager, the Golf Operations & Retail Manager will be responsible for ensuring the successful day to day running of golf operations and retail sales through exceptional customer service, player coordination and management of the Golf Shop. In addition, there will be an opportunity for a qualified PGA professional to run, outside normal hours of work, coaching programmes and clinics on their own behalf.

The role involves:
• Plan and co-ordinate the day-to-day golf operations in liaison with the Howick Golf Club Match Committee and regional and national golfing bodies.
• Manage the production of advance tee booking templates, the loading of club... competitions and the production of the annual fixture book.
• Collect and control green fees, scramble fees, tournament entries.
• Administer the hire and maintenance of golf carts.
• Operate the Golf Shop Sprig Bar including the sales and servicing of alcohol
• Have and maintain a current Bar Manager’s License.
• Co-ordinate all pennant and other club events activity.
• Co-ordinate and manage corporate day events by taking booking and liaising with the event organizer to ensure setup is completed and end results are well managed.
• Manage the profitable operations of the Golf Shop including purchasing, marketing, merchandising and sales.
• Take membership enquires and payments as and when required
• Manage the Golf Shop team – recruit, train, supervise, complete appraisals and create staff rosters
• Ensure compliance with all occupational health and safety statutory obligations (and any other relevant legislation that may apply from time to time), employer policies, procedures, rules and any special work requirements while carrying out work.
• Assist in social media posts in various channels, including Facebook and Instagram through our marketing provider.

Qualifications and experience:
• PGA Professional qualification preferred but not essential
• Outstanding customer service
• VEND, POS experience
• Good level of oral and written business communications
• Excellent telephone manner
• In depth knowledge of golf and Dot Golf
• Experience with computers and Microsoft Word, Office, Excel and PowerPoint
• In depth knowledge of social media platforms
• LCQ & General Managers Certificate (preferred) – must be willing to obtain and hold.
