This will involve working closely with the External Engagement and Strategy & Innovation functions in the Region and Field Offices to identify... top-priority research themes aligned with their external engagement plans. This role will ensure that any new research designed and conducted is of high quality, maximizes added-value, fully considers its target audience and their respective needs, and is in line with strategic priorities and ethical considerations. The role holder will be expected to advise Field Offices on shaping their research priorities, methodologies, and tools as well as help with the development of various research-based materials to demonstrate World Vision’s unique value proposition. This role will also focus on analyzing the program data of East Asia Field Offices to assess the strength of evidence upon which to make claims of World Vision’s contribution to improved child well-being and community ownership of development results. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:CONDUCT RESEARCH AND EVIDENCE OF IMPACT STUDIES (20%)Develop and implement a Regional Research Plan in close consultation with East Asia External Engagement, GAM, Strategy & Innovation, and Field Offices.Identify opportunities to leverage existing Monitoring & Evaluation systems and initiatives to better demonstrate World Vision Vietnam data and evidence to external audiences.Analyze and constantly update the research priorities of Field Offices and the Region.Assess current and future trends in research priorities in order to be ahead of the game with research results.Analyze the research market and the availability of research grants as well as internal research funding opportunities on respective priority topics and themes and contribute to proposal development for research-related funding.In consultation with Regional GAM and Strategy & Innovation, develop and manage regional research activities with prioritized themes aligned with Our People, donor promises, Field Office interests, and industry trends.CONDUCT RESEARCH AND EVIDENCE OF IMPACT STUDIES (35%)With Field Offices, design and conduct cross-sectoral regional research using robust methodology that can withstand critical review to generate strong evidence of impact to show World Vision East Asia’s unique value proposition.Provide strong evidence of World Vision’s contribution to the promises made to donors and our unique value proposition (e.g., lifting communities out of poverty) across multiple sectors and themes in line with the Partnership Impact Measurement Framework.Develop research reports and various other materials on the basis of research findings in close collaboration with Field Offices, Strategy & Innovation, and External Engagement.With the Regional DME Advisor, conceptualize, design, and develop regional evidence of impact studies and research publications based on World Vision’s Field Office programmes data.DISSEMINATE RESEARCH (20%)Lead the dissemination of research findings and recommendations among Regional, Field Office, and other key stakeholders.Work closely with field sector leads to ensure proper understanding of cross-sectoral research results. Identify various platforms where Regional and Field Office research results could be presented, i.e., through external partners or published journals, to further preposition World Vision. Work with the Senior Communications and Public Engagement Manager to use Regional and Field Office research results to develop various impactful communications materials to support Regional Senior Leadership, Field Office, and other internal stakeholders in research-driven external engagement.STRATEGIC RESEARCH PARTNERSHIPS (25%)Identify and nurture existing research partnerships. Represent World Vision on various research Technical Working Groups.Build new partnerships with various research institutions, think-tanks, and external agencies and help Field Offices to connect with these, where relevant.Co-create and conduct joint research designs with existing and/or new research partners. Strengthen partnerships with academic institutions to increase the credibility of World Vision’s evidence of impact.Work with Field Offices to develop research grant proposals to create and strengthen partnerships with research grant donors.KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLERequired Professional Experience:Master’s Degree/PhD or equivalent in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Humanitarian Assistance or any related field with a strong emphasis on research methods.At least 5 years of experience in applied research, including research methodology, policy analysis, policy-based development programming, impact evaluation methodology, and qualitative research.Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications:A thorough understanding of the international developmental sector.Experience in the collation, analysis, and evaluation of field-based raw data.Experience in networking with government/institutional donors, UN agencies, universities, and research institutions.High proficiency in statistical analysis. High proficiency in various statistical data science software programs (e.g., STATA, R, etc.).High proficiency in quantitative and mixed-method research designs.Expert data handling skills (classification, categorizing, tabulation, etc.) and demonstrated diligence in data management
