Position: Junior trader

Reports to: Commercial manager/Trader

Location: Central Kampala, Uganda

Responsibilities

Procurement

- Create collaborative supply chains to link our farmer programmes with a sustainable supply of coffee

- Assist on Robusta/Arabica coffee procurement

- Negotiate with suppliers on a daily basis

- Increase flows of coffee by developing strong supplier relationships

- Develop commercial strategies to ensure supply security

- Take part in pre-harvest crop surveys to assess outlook

Trade

- Coffee contract creation and position keeping

- Daily and weekly reporting

- Assist in the management of trade positions

- Counterparty risk management

- Participate in client visits

- Contribute to coffee market reports and carry out analysis in the market

- Work closely with operations team to ensure clients contracts are fulfilled in a timely and efficient manner
