About the role and our team
Are you a Registered Midwife who wants to be able to provide real continuity of care, from prenatal through delivery and post-natal, in a team that is central to the Island's community?
When you join our friendly and supportive midwifery team, Hospital and Community midwifery form part of one service, which means you will be able to work across both areas, rather than being limited to one aspect of midwifery care.
You will work in a fantastic modern 17-bed facility which includes 4 birthing rooms, 2 birthing pools, a dedicated maternity theatre, anaesthetic room and state of the art neo-natal suite. There is also a bereavement suite.
You will be part of great joined up services with other parts of the health service, including the Perinatal Mental Health Service and Diabetes service, where joint clinics are run with staff from both services and a Midwife.
You will provide great parent education services, offering a large portfolio of courses e.g. daddy... baby care, dedicated courses for first time and second time parents, sessions for vulnerable women and sessions for teenage women.
This role is open to Band 6 and Band 5.
The Band 5 posts are development posts where you will undergo a period of preceptorship with the aim of gaining the competencies required to fulfil a Band 6 position. During this period you will be assessed at 6, 12, and 24 months and if you meet the competencies there will be an increase in your salary. You will progress onto Band 6 once you have the full competencies for this role which will be reviewed after 12 months in post and no later than 2 years in post.
What can this role offer me?
By joining us you’ll be stepping away from NHS pressures and demands, as the Island’s healthcare system is similar but separate to the UK NHS.
This is a great opportunity for both newly qualified and experienced midwives; we have a supportive preceptorship package in place for newly qualified midwives.
We take pride in being able to offer a workplace that:
• Offers excellent training and development opportunities - We operate a well-resourced education and training centre where we provide opportunities for professional learning and CPD.
• Has a great working environment - We're a close-knit team driven to ensure we deliver high-quality Occupational Health services to the people within the public service sector.
