Founded in 1875 Nicholls and Clarke Group are a manufacturer, distributor and retailer of building materials throughout the UK with a network of retail and distribution centres. We have a committed team of over 450 people supplying building materials to the trade and retail markets.

The Role – Warehouse Manager

As the Warehouse Manager you will be responsible for a vital part of the supply chain process, processes and systems in order to ensure goods are received and dispatched appropriately, and that productivity targets are met. The right candidate should have an entrepreneurial mind set for business building in terms of maximising and optimising the brand appeal.

Responsibilities
• Liaise with customers, N&C products/Sales managers and staff and stores
• Coordinate and monitor the receipt, order, and dispatch of goods
• Manage storage space and mechanical handling equipment efficiently, ensure quality, budgetary targets and environmental objectives are met
• Have a clear understanding of the company's policies and vision and how the warehouse contributes to these
• Coordinate the use of computerised systems where necessary
• Respond to and deal with customer N&C products/Sales managers and staff and stores communication by email and telephone.
• Keep stock control systems up to date and make sure inventories are accurate.
• Plan future capacity requirements.
• Organise the recruitment and training of staff, as well as monitoring staff performance and progress.
• Monitoring, overseeing and delegating junior management and staff. Ensuring duties are fulfilled; accordingly, training, and coaching; communicating job expectations; appraising, and reviewing planning and reviewing actions; implementing policies and procedures.
• Produce regular reports and statistics on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
• Brief team leaders/supervisors daily.
• Maintain standards of health and safety and security in the work environment.
• Oversee the planned maintenance of vehicles, machinery and equipment.
• Maintain a safe and secure environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with health and legal regulations; overseeing security and wellbeing of operations.

Person Specification – Warehouse Manager
• Eligibility to live and work in UK.
• Educated to degree level (but not essential).
• Extensive experience at required skill level to be verified by references.
• Performance, achievement and results driven.
• Have a for eye detail.
• Able to work well with others.
• Energetic, physically fit and in good health.
• A hardworking, fastidious and conscientious individual.
• Fast paced and able to work under pressure.
• Be a flexible team player and able to adapt.
• It is essential that you have experience working in a Builders Merchant or Building Materials Distribution outlet.
• You will need to be strong operationally with experience logistics, warehouse, stock etc within a Builders Merchant or similar distribution outlet
