Job Summary: The Registered Nurse (RN) - Per Diem recovers patients as needed during post-operation and works within the RN scope of practice. The nurse is available to intervene in medical emergencies throughout the School of Dentistry. Responsibilities include performing recovery on Surgery Center patients, assisting residents with procedures as requested, conducting pre-anesthesia nursing assessments, and collaborating interdepartmentally for optimal patient placement and care.

Additional duties are performed as needed.

Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in nursing is required. A minimum of two years of clinical experience in the relevant specialty is required.

Knowledge and Skills: Proficiency in computer, printer, and software programs necessary for the position; ability to troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment; perform technical patient care activities. Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal, including in person and on the telephone. Ability to relate positively and professionally with others, be assertive, follow policies, work calmly under pressure, and collaborate effectively.

Critical thinking, basic math skills, organization, prioritization, problem-solving, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently are essential. Visual and auditory acuity necessary for patient assessments and care, including color distinction, hearing, and visual tasks.

Certifications:

California Registered Nurse license required. BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications are required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
