Responsibilities
As the Human Trafficking Resource Prosecutor, you’ll be a vital partner in empowering prosecutors and allied professionals with the tools, training, and guidance they need to successfully combat human trafficking.
Key responsibilities include:
Be the Expert:
Serve as a trusted resource to prosecutors, law enforcement, medical professionals, mental health professionals, victim advocacy agencies, and others.
Lead Training Initiatives:
Assess training needs, design tailored programs, and deliver high-impact training to prosecutors, law enforcement, and allied professionals.
Provide Expert Guidance:
Offer legal research, charging guidance, and support for pre-trial, trial, and appellate strategies related to human trafficking cases.
Collaborate and Connect:
Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the State Bureau of Investigation, Safe Alliance, and other state and private organizations.
Litigate with
Purpose:
Prosecute cases as assigned and contribute directly to achieving justice for human trafficking victims.
Share Knowledge:
Prepare and publish articles for our statewide magazine, sharing best practices and emerging issues with your peers.
Teamwork:
Take part as a member of a Multi-Disciplinary Team addressing Human Trafficking alongside collaborative partners to improve the investigation and prosecution of Human Trafficking.
Innovate:
Stay on the cutting edge of evidence-gathering techniques and emerging technologies to support law enforcement and prosecutors in the courtroom.

Knowledge of: federal, state, common, and constitutional law; judicial procedures and rules of evidence; case, statutory, and common law; NC General Statutes to prosecute criminal cases; judicial and quasi-judicial procedures; legal research methods, techniques, sources, databases, and other research tools; the principles and protocols for the evidentiary gathering of information, documents, financial records, and other data that may be used in trial court processes, protocols, and strategies;
