Lead Gardener in Training – Geradina Professional Gardeners


Location: Highfield SE, Calgary

Pay: $23-26/hour to start, with potential increase to $27-32/hour in the following season upon successful completion of training

Seasonal Position: April – October (weather permitting)

Job Description

We are looking for a Lead Gardener in Training to join our team for the 2025 season. This role is ideal for an experienced gardener who wants to grow into a leadership position. You will train alongside other lead gardeners and gain hands-on experience in guiding a team.


Responsibilities

- Train alongside experienced lead gardeners to develop leadership skills

- Perform high-quality gardening and landscaping services, including planting, pruning, weeding, edging, and mulching

- Use and maintain gardening tools and small equipment (pruners, hedge trimmers, etc.)

- Assist in transporting equipment and team members as needed

- Monitor irrigation systems where applicable and provide updates

- Perform physically demanding tasks, including kneeling, crouching, bending, and lifting heavy materials

- Work in all weather conditions (rain, heat, wind, etc.)

- Follow a set schedule while ensuring client satisfaction and high-quality work


Requirements

✔ Minimum 2 years of professional gardening experience in Calgary

✔ Strong knowledge of Calgary’s plant species, invasive weeds, and local climate conditions

✔ Physically fit with the ability to kneel, crouch, bend, and lift throughout the day

✔ Class 5 Driver’s License (must have less than 5 demerits)

✔ Smartphone required for communication and scheduling

✔ Ability to work independently and as part of a team

✔ Strong communication skills, including proficiency in written and spoken English

✔ Attention to detail and a passion for creating beautiful outdoor spaces
