We have a Water Tester position available within the DS Smith in Kemsley Mill.
The successful applicant will be someone who has previous experience in laboratory environment and industrial water/effluent treatment.
Role - Water Tester (ETP Process Tester)
Pay - £14.30 per hour, £20.25 per hour for Weekend, Unpaid breaks
Location - DS Smith Paper Ltd - Kemsley Mill, Kemsley Mill, Sittingbourne,. ME10 2TD
Job Type - Contructal, Initially for 6 months with possibilities of extension
Shift Hours - Flexible Hours, 6am to 2pm, Rotational, 4 on 4 off (including weekends at 1.5x rate.) One 15 minute morning break and one 30 minute lunch break permitted, both unpaid (off timesheet).
Responsibilities:

Collect and prepare samples from the waste water treatment plant for various laboratory tests, analyse results, and report findings to the operations team.

Develop knowledge to support plant operations.
*
Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to company safety procedures, using PPE and gas monitoring equipment, and assisting with risk assessments and incident reporting.
*
Comply with environmental management systems, report potential hazards, assist with investigations, and work to reduce the plant's environmental impact.
*
Support optimal water and waste processes, contribute improvement ideas, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
*
Maintain effective communication and participate in training as needed.
Essential Experience:
*
Laboratory/analytical/MS Excel experience is essential
*
Ability to work in adverse conditions (darkness, cold, wet, and alone).
*
Physically able to lift samples (up to 15kg) and carry samples some distance.
*
Driving Licence is essential.
Desired Experience:
*
Support daily ETP operations, following procedures, and complying with Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation.
*
Knowledge of waste water treatment process layout and sample point locations.
*
Ability to perform all required laboratory tests and maintain up-to-date process data and records.
*
Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental systems and procedures, maintaining good housekeeping throughout the laboratory and plant.
*
GCSE including maths, English or at least one science. Preference for A levels (at least one science) or above.
*
Engage in a mix of outdoor sample collection and indoor laboratory testing.
