Community Outreach Worker - Day Program
This position is a one on one support position, working with a dependent high functioning adult female during her day program in the community.
The hours for this position are Tuesday to Friday 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
Responsibilities for this role:
-The outreach worker is responsible for supporting the individual during their weekly scheduled day programming and activities.
- Maintain daily and weekly written and verbal communication between yourself, the guardian, and supportive roomate for the individual so all parties can remain on the same page.
- Have a positive and encouraging approach when working with the individual and be able to motivate them during activities to encourage active participation.
-Be willing to participate in physical activities with the individual which include:
Swimming, Working out in a gym environment, walking , and other various activities (which can change according to the time of year/ weather).
-Ensure the safety and well being of the individual during community activities, and encourage positive decision making.
- Ensure that confidentiality Is continually maintained throughout the program to ensure the safety of the individual.
This position requires:
-This position requires someone who has 1-3 years of hands on experience working with individuals with disabilities.
-Education within the field of disability studies, or human services would be considered an asset
- Must have a valid Alberta Class 5 Drivers License & a reliable vehicle with $2 million dollar liability coverage.
- Current criminal record check with vulnerable sector
- Current First Aid and CPR or willing to get training within first 3 months of hire
