Job Title:** Care Worker for Children with Learning or Physical Disabilities
Location: Rochford Essex
Job Type: Bank Support Worker (with potential for rapid increase in hours), initial hours per week is approximately 12 hours per week.
Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Care Worker to join our team, providing support to children with learning or physical disabilities, including autism. This role initially offers part-time hours, but there is potential for rapid growth in hours based on the needs of the children and the service demand. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for working with children with disabilities and will be committed to providing high-quality care and support.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide direct care and support to children with learning or physical disabilities, including autism, in accordance with individual care plans.
2. Assist children with daily living activities, including personal care, hygiene, feeding, and mobility.
3. Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for children, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being at all times.
4. Support children in developing social skills, independence, and confidence through engaging activities and interactions.
5. Implement behaviour management strategies and techniques tailored to the individual needs of each child, in collaboration with relevant professionals and caregivers.
6. Communicate effectively with children, families, caregivers, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care and support.
7. Document observations, progress, and any incidents accurately and timely, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to data protection regulations.
8. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in working with children with disabilities.
9. Adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures, recognizing and reporting any safeguarding concerns or incidents appropriately.
10. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and standards.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children with learning or physical disabilities, such as autism, is highly desirable.
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) is preferred but not essential.
- Understanding of the needs and challenges faced by children with disabilities and their families.
- Ability to demonstrate empathy, patience, and resilience in working with children with complex needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- Reliable, trustworthy, and committed to upholding high standards of care and professionalism.
- Willingness to undergo background checks, including a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and work additional hours as needed.
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle may be beneficial for some roles.
