Position Title: Dean School of Law
Location: DBS Global University, Dehradun, India
Reports to: Vice Chancellor
Overview:
The Dean of the School of Law will lead the academic, strategic, and operational direction of the School, ensuring excellence in teaching, research, and industry engagement. The Dean will play a key role in shaping the School’s vision and implementing initiatives to enhance academic programs, faculty development, research output, and industry partnerships. This leadership position requires a dynamic individual committed to advancing Law education and fostering an innovative, inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Academic Leadership & Curriculum Development:
• Oversee and enhance undergraduate and postgraduate programs within the School of Law.
• Lead curriculum development initiatives, integrating contemporary industry trends and emerging business topics to align with global standards.
• Foster academic excellence and innovation in teaching methods, digital learning, and experiential education.
Faculty Recruitment, Development & Management:
• Recruit, mentor, and retain high-caliber faculty and staff, promoting a culture of professional development and continuous improvement.
• Encourage faculty engagement in research, publication, and professional activities.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations and facilitate professional development opportunities.
Research and Innovation:
• Develop and implement a strategic plan for advancing research output, including securing research grants and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Encourage and support faculty and student research initiatives aligned with the strategic goals of the School.
• Build the School’s reputation through publications, conferences, and innovative research.
Student Success and Engagement:
• Support student recruitment, retention, and academic advising initiatives, ensuring a high-quality educational experience.
• Enhance student engagement through internships, career services, leadership development programs, and co-curricular activities.
• Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the student body and faculty.
Industry and Community Relations:
• Forge strong partnerships with industry leaders, corporations, and professional organizations to enhance learning opportunities, internships, and placement for students.
• Act as a liaison to the business community, positioning the School as a thought leader in Law education.
• Develop advisory boards to guide curriculum development and ensure alignment with industry standards.
• Have strong network with legal system in India specially BCI and should be aware of the related regulatory compliances.
Operational Management & Strategic Planning:
• Lead the strategic planning process for the School, establishing measurable goals in alignment with the university’s mission and objectives.
• Oversee budgeting, resource allocation, and efficient management of the School’s administrative functions.
• Implement policies to uphold high standards of academic integrity, accreditation compliance, and quality assurance.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Academic Qualifications: A Ph.D. or equivalent in Law is a must.
• Experience:
• Minimum of 15 years in academic leadership roles, with at least 5 years as a department head, Dean, Associate dean, Director or similar. Candidates with Industry and academic experience will be preferred.
• Proven track record of teaching, research, and scholarly accomplishments.
• Extensive experience in curriculum development, faculty mentoring, and research.
• Industry Engagement: Established network within the legal community and experience in building partnerships with industry and corporate sectors.
