Job Title: Medical Assistant
Location: Geneva, NY
Employment Type: Full-Time
Job Summary
The Medical Assistant supports FLACRA’s medical team by assisting in meeting the health and psychiatric needs of our clients. This role is essential to creating a safe and supportive environment while maintaining FLACRA’s mission, vision, and values.
Shift Availability
• Thursday – Monday: 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM
• Sunday – Thursday: 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM
Must-Have Qualifications
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Valid NYS Driver’s License.
• At least 1 year of experience in a medical setting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong multitasking abilities and composure in challenging situations.
• Ability to remain calm and focused in crisis situations.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
• Associate’s Degree or higher in a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in a medical office or healthcare setting.
• Experience in behavioral health.
Job Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
• Obtain vital signs from clients and report findings as needed.
• Assist in client searches to ensure safety and compliance.
• Observe and document urine drug screens.
• Monitor clients following medication administration.
• If certified, enter requisitions and perform bloodwork as required.
• Assist in cleaning and preparing client rooms, following infection control protocols.
• Support various tasks, including screening, intake, orientation, counseling, crisis intervention, patient education, and case management.
• Contribute to treatment planning and provide therapeutic interventions to promote client skill development.
• Provide transportation for clients to treatment-related appointments or community activities.
• Observe and report changes in clients’ medical conditions, mental status, or behavior, documenting accordingly.
• Role-model appropriate behavior and responses to clients facing challenges.
• Teach clients about personal care, daily living skills, safety, and available community resources.
• Liaise with community support systems, agencies, and families as necessary.
• Participate actively in staff, in-service, and supervisory meetings.
• Assist in daily maintenance and cleanliness of living areas and complete shift-specific checklists.
• Support clients in reaching their personal goals.
• Ensure the safety and security of clients, staff, and facilities.
• Perform other tasks as directed by supervisors.
