Job Description:
Create patterns for fabrics, design with software, sketch ideas
• Creating computerized designs using design software such as Adobe Illustrator
• Creating detailed sketches of designs to be used as the basis for finished products
• Reviewing customer orders for accuracy and making any necessary adjustments to ensure satisfaction with the finished product
• Working with computerized embroidery machines to create designs for fabric patterns
• Developing new textile products by creating designs and patterns based on current trends in fashion or other industries such as home décor or automotive
• Consulting with clients to determine their needs and preferences, such as specific colors or fabrics
• Consulting with marketing staff to develop a brand image for the company or product line
• Determining methods for producing and finishing materials such as dyes, yarns, fabrics, or interlinings
• Analyzing competitors’ products and designing new products that improve upon previous designs
