We are recruiting support workers: Caregiver to support our 10 year old daughter with developmental disabilities.
Mondays to Friday after school care. 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM. Vehicle to commute to our place would be great.
Possibilities for Saturdays & Sundays (Time may be revised, some flexibility)
$23.00/hr.
The support worker will be responsible for supporting our daughter with personal care, daily living activities in the home, developing interests in the community, and accompanying to appointments. The individual must be comfortable driving.
Duties include:
Build a relationship with and get to know our daughter by spending time with her Provide her with personal care (toileting, dressing, bathing, brushing teeth, & feeding) and follow the schedule provided by the family Give fluids Administer medication Support our family to walk with walker in the home and outside the home.
Support her to go swimming whenever possible Use strategies for personal care and community outings developed by the family Respond to unpredictable situations, if necessary, in a calm manner and problem solve with family/team members Support our family member by being present and answering questions respectfully by guiding and directing Safeguard her in the home and community when needed Light housekeeping duties Other duties may be required.
Qualifications
Strong understanding of and commitment to inclusion Minimum of one-year personal care experience Energetic, physically strong and agile Enjoy swimming is an asset The ability to problem-solve and deal with unpredictable situations The ability to demonstrate patience and use thoughtful language The ability to exhibit a great deal of patience The ability to work independently in unstructured environments and to employ effective time management skills and the ability to work within a team A valid Class 5 driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstracts Current First Aid and CPR certification Candidate must be able to pass a background and vulnerable sector check Experience with meal preparation
