We are looking for a dedicated and organized individual to join our team as a substitute nurse, supporting the smooth operation of these vital programs.
Position Summary:
Royalton Public Schools is seeking candidates to be part of a nurse substitute pool that can be called as needed for absences of our current staff. The substitute school nurse will provide health services to students, support the development of safe and healthy school environments, and manage daily health-related needs. This role requires good communication skills, the ability to interact positively with students and staff, experience dealing with children of all ability levels, and proficient clerical skills.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide first aid and emergency care to students and staff.
• Administer prescribed medications to students in accordance with district policies.
• Perform routine health screenings (vision, hearing, and other health assessments) as required.
• Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and school staff about student health concerns.
• Maintain accurate health records for students.
• Implement and monitor individualized health care plans (IHPs) for students with chronic conditions or special needs.
• Participate in school-wide health and safety programs.
• Promote a healthy school environment and assist with wellness initiatives.
• Respond to health emergencies, including injury and illness situations.
• Follow all state and district protocols related to student health and safety.
• Assist student(s) in the health office
• Adheres to all applicable professional safety standards and practices in the nursing field, including requirements set forth in federal and state law, and Occupational Safety and Health regulations.
• Follows Blood Borne Pathogens regarding the medical or health care of employees and students.
Qualifications:
• Current Red Cross or American Heart Association First Aid and CPR certification
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in accordance with the MN Board of Nursing
• Must be able to lift, push or pull a minimum of 50 pounds
• Must be able to interact with students while standing, sitting on chair and sitting on floor
• Must be able to react quickly to students changing needs
