Position Overview: The Village of Flossmoor is accepting applications for the full-time position of Mechanic with the Public Works Department. This is a skilled position with responsibilities that include the supervision, maintenance and repair of Public Works, Fire Department, Police Department, Building/Inspectional Services Department, Administration vehicles, equipment, and facilities. This po...sition requires the ability to diagnose issues, analyze malfunctions, determine methods of repair, and strategically inspect, repair, rebuild, and maintain a variety of Village equipment including, but not limited to; cars, pick-up trucks, tractors, dump trucks, bucket trucks, backhoes, front end loaders, sewer jet trucks, snow plows, generators, saws, pumps, fire and police vehicles/equipment and other light and heavy-duty vehicles and construction equipment.Qualifications: The requirements of this position include: A high school diploma (GED or equivalent), a current and valid Illinois Class “A” CDL with air brakes and tanker endorsement (or capable of acquiring CDL within six months of hire), a minimum of five years’ mechanical experience. Desired possession of relevant Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications.Hours and Compensation: This position is responsible for working approximately forty hours (40) each week with occasional overtime and weekend assignments, including snowplowing and underground utility repairs. The salary range is $81,151- $101,439, and the starting salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience.
