Our client a CPG company here in the area is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Receivable/Deductions Specialist to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience managing deductions and chargebacks, particularly in a retail or consumer goods environment. Familiarity with big-box retailers and their deduction processes is essential for success in this role. The position reports directly into the Controller .

responsibilities:

• n
Manage and reconcile customer accounts, ensuring accuracy in receivables and timely application of payments.
n n
• n
Investigate, validate, and resolve customer deductions and chargebacks, including shortages, pricing discrepancies, freight claims, and promotional allowances.
n n
• n
Collaborate with internal teams such as sales, customer service, and logistics to address and prevent recurring issues.
n n
• n
Communicate effectively with big-box retailers to address discrepancies and ensure resolution of outstanding balances.
n n
• n
Prepare and analyze deduction reports, identifying trends and recommending process improvements to reduce deduction exposure.
n n
• n
Maintain accurate and organized documentation of deduction claims, correspondence, and resolutions.
n n
• n
Assist in month-end closing processes related to accounts receivable and deductions.
n n
• n
Stay updated on retailer policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements affecting deductions.
n n

qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting,
n n
• n
Minimum of 5 years of experience specializing in deductions and chargebacks.
n n
• n
Proficiency in working with big-box retailers such as Walmart, Target, or similar accounts.
n n
• n
Strong knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards and intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
n n
• n
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
n n
• n
Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to negotiate and build relationships.
n n
• n
Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
n n
