About the position

The Rhome Community Library is seeking a dedicated and professional part-time Librarian to oversee the programs and operations of the library. This role involves a combination of administrative, supervisory, and customer service responsibilities aimed at ensuring the efficient delivery of library services and resources. The Librarian will be responsible for managing daily operations, which includes clerical tasks, housekeeping duties, and ensuring that library services run smoothly. The position requires excellent communication skills and a strong customer service orientation, as well as a familiarity with technology and library systems. Knowledge of Spanish is considered a plus, enhancing the ability to serve a diverse community. In this role, the Librarian will supervise and manage volunteers and SCSEP employees, ensuring that the library operates efficiently. Collaboration with the RCL Board of Directors is essential for developing and implementing programs for all ages. The Librarian will maintain a daily log of library activities and work closely with the Board President to meet state accreditation requirements and assist in the completion of the Annual Report to TSLAC. Proficiency in using the Biblionix Apollo ILS is necessary for processing collection items, managing patron records, and notifying patrons about fines and overdue materials. The Librarian will also provide instructional assistance on technology devices to library customers and attend Board meetings as a non-voting member. It is crucial for the Librarian to keep the Board President informed of any incidents or emergencies that may arise. This position may also involve performing other duties as needed and requested by the Board or library staff.

Responsibilities
• Responsible for the delivery of library services and projects/programs and for the efficient administration and management of daily operations of the library, including clerical and housekeeping duties, and ensuring that services run smoothly.

• Supervise and manage volunteers and SCSEP employees to ensure the Library operates efficiently.
,
• Work closely with the RCL Board of Directors to develop programs for all ages and implement/lead the programs.
,
• Maintain a daily log of library activity; work with Board President to ensure state accreditation requirements are met and assist in the completion of the Annual Report to TSLAC.
,
• Use the Biblionix Apollo ILS to process all collection items, check in and out library materials, maintain patron/member and materials collection records, notify patrons of fines and overdue materials, and utilize other features of Apollo.

• Provide instructional assistance on technology devices as needed by customers.

• Attend RCL Board of Directors' meetings as a non-voting member and work under the supervision of the Board President.

• Ensure that the Board President is immediately aware of any incident or emergency.

• Perform other duties as needed and requested.

Requirements
• Prefer an Associate's Degree in Library Science or Computer/Information Sciences; experience and background will also be considered.

• Two to four years of progressively responsible experience in a public or private library; at least six months of supervisory and management experience.

• Ability to relate well to persons of all ages, religions, ethnicities, and income levels.
