Duties
• Supervises a staff of 3-12 employees, assigns and reviews work assignments on a daily, weekly, or longer basis.
• Plans work schedules, approves or disapproves leave, determines performance objectives and rates performance.
• Must be able to support the activity by applying a practical knowledge of recreational activities and skills in the use of recreation materials and facilities.
• Works in executing recreation events, programs and services to meet the recreational needs of a diverse patronage, including a variety of multi disciplinary events, i.e., social activities, tournaments and other major programs.
• Assists with training new personnel and other recreation programs in the Recreation Center as needed.

• A one year probationary period may be required.
• Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
• A one year Supervisory probationary period may be required.
• This position requires a favorably adjudicated T1/NACI background investigation.
• Management reserves the right to reassign employees to other facilities.
• Work schedule may be irregular. The incumbent may be required to work nights, weekends, holidays and/or unique events.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will possess the following:
• Knowledge of a wide range of recreation and sports activities, organization and structure of military units and installation sports program objectives, policies, methods and procedures to plan, organize, and coordinate activities, assist, guide and motivate military staff in carrying out their responsibilities
• Basic understanding of budget and supply functions in order to prepare input and justification of funding of supplies and equipment
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing (English)
• Work experience or education directly related to the duties of a Supervisory Recreation Specialist NF-0188-03

This position is located within the Business Recreation Division for the BOSS Program.

Area Of Consideration
• The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. or U.S. Territory for three (3) or more continuous years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation and reside within the Local Commuting Area (defined as 100-mile radius) of Fort Drum, NY.

Spouse Employment Preference (SEP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) are included in this area of consideration.

PCS Costs

Pay-Band (NF) Allowances and Differentials
• This is a pay-banded position.
• Night differential and Sunday Premium Pay have NOT been authorized by the Garrison Commander for Non-Bargaining NF positions and will not be paid to any Non-Bargaining NF employees.

Incentives and Bonuses
• Incentives will not be paid.

Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances
• Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will NOT be paid.
• Payband employees in pay levels NF-3 and above and all CY employees, are entitled to receive nonforeign area allowances and differentials in the same amounts and under the same eligibility criteria prescribed for APF employees in the same locality.
