Installation Technician Assistant
DEPARTMENT:

JOB CLASSIFICATION: PART-TIME SEASONAL

Min - $15 Mid -$17 Max - $20

GENERAL PURPOSE
Assists in performing a variety of entry-level, semi-skilled duties in assisting the network team to complete the installation of fiber network services to the home.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the supervision of the Network Director or Technician Lead.
Essential Functions
Assistants will be responsible for helping the technicians in their daily duties. Technicians install, maintain, and repair fiber optic communications equipment. Assistants will be paired with technicians and will travel with them to the job sites by service vehicle.
The work can often be physically demanding. Must be able to work from a ladder, install fiber and electrical cable in tight areas and be able to learn to use electrical hand tools in outdoor conditions.
Will be interacting with customers at their residences or place of business. Must be able to communicate well. Required to be courteous, respectful and have a “customer is always right” mindset when communicating.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Education and Experience:
• Sufficient education to demonstrate an aptitude and ability to perform above and related duties; AND
• No experience required; AND
• Must be 16 years of age.
Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
:
Knowledge of Wi-Fi and home networking troubleshooting a plus but not required.
Ability to work weekends and holidays when needed; maintain safe working conditions; respond effectively and make responsible decisions in emergency or unusual situations; follow written and oral instructions; establish and maintain good working relationships with employees, supervisors and the public; perform manual or strenuous physical labor on a limited basis; communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
Special Qualifications: Must possess a valid driver’s license and submit to random drug testing.
Work Environment: Worker generally required to work outdoors in all seasonal extremes requiring muscular strain, related to walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, crawling and lifting (up to 50 pounds). Talking, hearing, and seeing is essential to performing required job functions. Common eye, hand, finger dexterity required. Employees may be exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals;
risk of electric shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, discriminating thinking and creative problem solving.
