The department of Information Technology supports all city departments in their digital and technological efforts to serve the community better. This position offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to promote the adoption of emerging technology and foster innovation in the City of Hampton by fostering healthy relationships with departments, aligning business operation needs to technology strategies, and partnering with others to realign processes to improve efficiency and automation.
The purpose of the position is to act as a department liaison and strategic partner between the Information Technology (IT) Department and City departments/divisions to ensure alignment of technology solutions with business objectives and to maximize return on investment for the City of Hampton’s IT business strategy. This position reports to the Chief Information Officer and develops and implements programs within organizational policies, reporting significant activities to executive-level managers through conferences and reports. Oversees the Business Relationship, Project Management, and Solutions Development teams.
Minimum Requirements
• Requires a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Requires a minimum of five (5) years of diverse information technology experience and four (4) years of supervisory experience.
• Requires demonstrated knowledge of IT infrastructure, network, IT Service Desk operations, project management and asset management.
• Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification preferred.
• Must successfully pass a background check prior to any offer of employment or promotion.

• Must possess strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
• Requires effective communication with internal and external customers.
• May require working beyond a standard 40-hour work week to include evenings and weekends.
• The incumbent may be considered "essential personnel" during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
