Minimum Qualifications:
A master's degree in psychology; social work; sociology; counseling; health services; hospital, public health care or mental health administration; nursing; public health; education with a concentration in psychology or counseling; special education; or in a human services or behavioral science discipline as listed in the NOTE; plus three years of professional level experience providing mental health treatment.
Substitutions:
Graduate training beyond the master's degree in qualifying fields will substitute for a maximum of one year of the required experience on the basis of thirty semester hours for one year of experience.
Job Concepts:
FUNCTION OF WORK: To direct special services programs in a small to medium mental health region or human services district or direct program areas of a mental health center.
LEVEL OF WORK: Program Manager.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Broad review from a higher-level manager or administrator.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Project basis over staff in specific assigned special services programs.
LOCATION OF WORK: Department of Health and Hospitals, Office of Mental Health;
Human Services Districts.
EXAMPLES OF WORK:
• Coordinates special services elements and provides consultation to professional staff of the various facilities within a small region.
• Provides consultation and technical assistance to mental health facilities regarding services programs.
• Monitors contract programs and/or facilities to determine compliance with standards, policies and program requirements.
• Determines the need and types of various services for evaluation of problems of mentally and/or emotionally ill persons.
• Plans, organizes and implements the services and activities of the sub-unit and coordinates services with other sub-units of the facility.
