Duties
• Perform grounds keeping duties such as grass mowing, clearing brush and timber.
• Select proper hand tool and power equipment for ground maintenance and/or electrical work.
• Assist other workers on mobile equipment and/or minor components found to be deficient.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections which includes visual checks of structures, facilities, grounds, and equipment.
• Shovel snow from sidewalks, ramps, and dock areas during winter months.
• Construct and repair concrete and asphalt surfaces.
• Operate government motor vehicles to load, unload and/or move material from various buildings.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
• Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain Government operator's license.
• Position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment.
• This is a mission essential position and may require shift work and/or work on rotating shifts to provide coverage in the evenings, weekends, holidays and other situations.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Must be able to pass a physical examination prior to employment and annually thereafter.
• Must be willing to accept a term appointment scheduled to last 13 months.
• Must be willing to complete one year trial period.
• Must undergo pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter as this is testing designated position (TDP).

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to perform common Maintenance Worker (MVO) tasks, such as: 1) performing ground keeping and/or building work repairs; 2) moving bulky items such as equipment and materials to, from, and within various buildings; and 3) operating motor vehicles in performance of these duties. Use hand and power tools for roofing, carpentry, and painting work. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
• Physical Effort: Stands, walks, and bends while performing the work. Lifts and carries equipment and materials weighing up to 40 pounds. The work requires considerable physical effort for long periods in handling materials and operating equipment.
• Working Conditions: Works inside and outside in all types of weather. Subject to injury from handling equipment, burns, fumes, noise, falls, cuts, dirt, and grease. May be required to wear protective clothing and equipment.
