We are currently seeking a Veteran Program Assistant to join our Veterans Employment Services team in Oklahoma City, Ok! Volunteers of America is one of the nation’s largest comprehensive human services organizations with 16,000 mission-driven professionals, dedicated to helping those in need rebuild their lives and reach their full potential.

Our Veterans Employment Services team partners with veterans to obtain long-term and meaningful employment and is tailored to meet the unique needs of veterans who are unemployed or under employed. The program assists veterans to apply skills and traits attained in military service to new civilian employment opportunities.

What You Will Do To Change Lives

As the Veteran Program Assistant, you will be an integral part of our team and will be primarily responsible providing administrative support for the Veteran Services Program staff by handling information requests and performing clerical functions such as preparing correspondence, answering calls, receiving visitors, data entry and scheduling meetings.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
• Greet callers and visitors in a professional manner and determine whether they should be given access to specific individuals.
• Type reports, memos, letters and other documents.
• Perform data entry.
• Assist with grant billing administration.
• Create reports and presentations.

What You Will Bring
• H.S. Diploma or equivalency.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Excel.
• This job is office based but may require up to 10% travel.
• Strong coordination, organizational, planning & time management skills.
• Must possess critical thinking, analytical & decision-making skills.
• Excellent oral & written communication skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, co-workers, persons from other departments and vendors.
• Attention to detail & excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and present data contained in those records in a timely manner.
• Must be flexible & self-motivated, capable of monitoring multiple responsibilities simultaneously and be able to respond to changing priorities.

Preferred Qualifications
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an administrative support role.
• Experienced in working with people with addiction and/or mental health disorders.
