1. Carry out pilotage services to ships in a safe and efficient manner.2. Supervise special towage operations as required by the marine management,3. Ensure relevant records and forms are maintained in accordance with company policies and procedures.9. Maintain efficient knowledge of local marine environment in order to provide adequate advice to masters of calling vessels.10. Keep good lookout on all navigation aids and immediately report any malfunctions to port control.11. Coordinate with GSO to check for any damages on the quay wall or mooring equipment and immediately report to port control.12. Provide marine management with timely advice on all matters relevant to the efficient function of the marine department and provide suggestions for improvement.13. Participate in all departmental functions and meetings as required by marine management.14. Maintain proper representation of the company.15. Participate in a roster system with the other Pilots to maintain cover on a 24-hour basis. 1. Education: Requires a maritime college degree.2. Requires a minimum of 1ST Class certificate of competency or equivalent. Or an equivalent pilotage certificate.3. All STCW courses.4. Experience: Requires at least 3 years experience in handling large ships within harbor areas, utilizing conventional and tractor tugs. Working knowledge of tug operations.5. Specialized Knowledge and Skillsa. Must be thoroughly familiar with all types of vessels that call at port.b. Requires ability to analyze all marine situations.c. Requires advanced level of verbal and written communications skills in English.d. Requires ability to submit accurate and detailed reports.e. Requires good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with colleagues.f. Must be able to motivate and lead a small team.g. Must be able to exercise good judgment in order to set priorities.h. Must have the ability to train potential pilots, tug master and crews in all marine operations.i. Requires proven IT skills or aptitude.Work Environment and Physical Demands1. Work environment is in an around the port on various types of vessels.2. Must be able to work in rotating shifts, days, evenings, and nights. Requires overtime work, and work on holidays and weekends, depending upon shift schedule.3. Must be able to be available at short notice to cover for absence/sickleave on an ad hoc basis.4. Required to observe all safety and health requirements for work areas.5. Must be able to take charge of all aspects of marine operations, in all weather conditions.6. Must have professional appearance, consistent with local customs and work area.
