Description
Title: Vascular Sonographer - Vassar Brothers Medical Center - New Windsor Clinical - Full Time, 40 hours per day, 8 hour shifts, 7:30am - 4:00pm, Monday - Friday. No call, weekend or holidays!

Requires working in all HVI-W Testing Locations (Chester, Putnam, Fishkill, New Windsor, Delafield, Columbia).

Summary: A non-exempt position responsible for using diagnostic medical equipment to diagnose various medical conditions. Population served based on scope of services in the department.
Responsibilities:
1. Review patient’s medical history and physician’s instructions. Ensure that there is an order for the test to be performed. Properly explain procedure to the patient and answer any questions patient may have. Ensure that the patient is as comfortable as possible. Maintain contact with patient during imaging.
2. Prepare equipment for the procedure. Select patient from the modality work list. Select appropriate equipment settings. Confirm you have the correct patient by asking patient to state their name and date of birth. Explain the procedure to patient. Direct the patient to move into positions that will provide the best view.
3. Operate special equipment to direct non-ionizing, high frequency sound waves into areas of the patient's body. The equipment collects reflected sound waves and forms an image that may be digitally stored and transmitted for interpretation and diagnosis by a physician.
4. During the scan, look for visual cues that contrast healthy areas with unhealthy ones. Follow the protocol for imaging and measurements required for each study.
5. Process ultrasound & PVR/ABI images in accordance with policies and procedures.
6. Prepare preliminary report in Fuji Synapse CV for the physician. Before finalizing report for physician to read, review report to ensure demographic data and report are correct and complete.
7. Assist with training new vascular ultrasound staff members.
8. Participate in all venous procedure days. Assist physician during procedure
9. Follow infection control protocols.
10. Participate in quality assurance/improvement program. Assist with IAC accreditation. Comply with direction given by supervisor of Ultrasound and medical director.
11. Maintain and Model Nuvance Health Values.
12. Demonstrates regular, reliable and predictable attendance.
13. Responsible for performing at multiple sites within the VBMC CTC network (Delafield, New Windsor, Chester, Fishkill & Poughkeepsie)
14. Performs other duties as required.

Other Information:

Required: Registration through American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) Registered Diagnostic Vascular Technologist (RVT) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International – Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) or registration within six months of employment.

Required Education: A two-year Associates Degree in specialized or technical field, and/or one-year vascular ultrasound certification program or equivalent experience. Bachelor’s degree in science or related field preferred.

Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in vascular ultrasound field is required. At least 1 year of experience performing venous procedures is required. General ultrasound preferred but not required. (Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and sclerotherapy). Must have knowledge and experience with radiation safety rules and regulations.

Salary Range: $32.23 - $59.86 hourly (Pay based on YOE/Contracted Union Rates)
