DescriptionBecome part of an inclusive organization with over 40,000 teammates, whose mission is to improve the health and well-being of the unique communities we serve.Summary: Provides translation-interpreter services for Spanish-speaking patients and their families, as needed throughout the UNC Healthcare System.Responsibilities:• Maintains records related to translation requests and doc...uments the nature of requests in patients' medical records.• Provides accurate face-to-face medical interpretation between Spanish-speaking patients and staff in a variety of settings within UNC HealthCare.• Serves as an advocate for Spanish-speaking patients and their families, assisting in the coordination of health needs and helping care providers understand Hispanic culture.• Translates and maintains UNC HealthCare printed material into Spanish. Actively searches for existing Spanish language materials pertaining to health care and hospitalization.Other InformationEducation Requirements:● High School diploma or GEDLicensure/Certification Requirements:● No licensure or certification required.Professional Experience Requirements:● One (1) year of experience in a health care or human services setting.Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:● Demonstrates fluency in Spanish and English.
