Salary Range £25,250 - £26,250Location Hybrid (WFH / SportPark, Loughborough)Type of contract Full-time, PermanentClosing Date 23:59pm on 13 January 2025UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) is on a mission to protect clean sport and currently has an exciting opportunity available for you to join us.We’re looking to recruit a Science and Medicine Team Assistant joining the Operations Directorate to play... an active role providing administration support to the Science and Medicine Team.About UsOur purpose:To ensure doping-free sport, promoting and protecting clean sport through education, testing and enforcement.Our values:Integrity – We do what is right for clean sport, we are equitable and ethical, ensuring everyone is treated fairly and with respect.Collaboration – We work together and with others, sharing knowledge and building relationships to better tackle doping.Excellence – We strive to achieve high standards in the protection of clean sport, evolving with the times and finding solutions.Passion – We are dedicated to keeping sport clean, are proud of what we do and know it matters.Job PurposeYou will support the Athlete Biological Passport (ABP) and Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) programmes along with assisting the Science and Medicine team in keeping up to date with the latest findings from anti-doping research that is relevant to the team’s work.Key result areas include• Assist the Medical Programmes Manager in monitoring conditions of approval to ensure that athletes comply with these conditions throughout the duration of their TUE• Send reminders to athletes when their TUEs are about to expire and when additional medical evidence is required to complete an application• Report on key performance indicators to the Head of Science and Medicine on a quarterly basis to evaluate the effectiveness and consistency of the TUE programme• Collate information packages (that include whereabouts, drug test history, and performance data) to support the evaluation of athlete biological passports by members of the UK Athlete Passport Management Unit (APMU) Haematological Expert Panel• Run reports in ADAMS to identify when ABP blood data has been reported by WADA accredited laboratories but not matched with an athlete’s biological passport• Collate anti-doping research - acquire new papers, summarise research findings, and present relevant findings to colleagues at quarterly meetings• Support the Testing team in monitoring athlete performances to assist test distribution planning• Support the Science and Information Officer in the creation of sport specific periodisation calendars that identify high risk periods for doping within a sport and contribute to the annual risk assessment of sports process• Coordinate the creation of quarterly briefing papers for senior management and the board summarising the Science and Medicine team’s activitiesPerson specificationQualifications/experience/knowledge• Possess a bachelors’ degree in an area relevant to the position (for example, biochemistry, biomedical sciences, exercise physiology, pharmacology, sport and exercise sciences, and sports medicine)• Possess an understanding of data protection and confidentiality, and experience of managing information with discretion• Experience in completing critical reviews of scientific literature and presenting summarised results• Experience of managing, analysing, and interpreting data• Experience of working with others to achieve a goal• Possess an understanding of the physiological demands of sport, how athletes train, and what sometimes drives them to push the boundariesSkills• Possess strong administration and record keeping skills to be able to work in a highly process driven administrative environment• Demonstrable analytical eye for detail• Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills• Able to work effectively as a team member or on own when required• Competent user of data management software systems and Microsoft Office applicationsHow to applyOur values are at the heart of what we do, so if they align with you and you’re up for the fight against doping in sport, please complete the online application.Deadline for Applications is 11:59pm on 13 January 2025.
