About the Role:
Corporate Finance
Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Accounting, the Financial Specialist II is responsible for ensuring a smooth month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial statement reporting process. Coordination of the reporting process for monthly internal financial statements and quarterly and year end audited financial statements is required including monitoring cash flows and distribution, calculation, and reconciliation of MOH/Ontario Health funding from multiple funding programs.
The Financial Specialist II also ensures the quarterly and annual OHRS Submission is accurate and completed on time. The Financial Specialist II is a key accounting subject matter expert who provides accounting information, explanations, clarity, breakdown of high-level information into detail, and guidance to readers/users of the statements. The Financial Specialist II provides oversight and financial direction to Corporate Accounting staff, peers and clinical leaders on financial accounting matters. This role is an experienced accounting position within the department with the expectation that complex accounting knowledge is required to perform the role

As the ideal candidate, you have:
• Successful completion of an College Diploma is Business, Finance or Accounting; Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required
• Ontario Health Reporting Standards Level I & II preferred
• Minimum three (3) years of recent, related experience
• Advanced Microsoft Suite knowledge; specifically Excel
• Advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with others in a consultative approach
• Demonstrated advanced ability to investigate and resolve problems and to work under pressure to meet rigid deadlines
• Advanced time management and organizational skills
• Demonstrated advanced knowledge of how statistical and financial parameters interact to affect end of the day operating efficiencies
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at Lawson and LHSC
• Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's Vision, Purpose and Values
• Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
