You will assist the community and local agencies with various records requests. You will be responsible for handling the records portion of the Department. Using your skills of multi-tasking, you will provide a wide variety of services to staff and the public, in a fast-paced environment. The Police Department regularly participates in community events, which you may be assigned to attend. These events bring awareness to citizens of the services our Police provide and is a fun time to interact with those we serve. You meticulously receive and catalog evidence, ensuring each item is preserved and secured in compliance with regulations. Your expertise shines as you coordinate property releases with case officers and prosecuting attorneys, verifying requests and handling unclaimed items with care. You assist officers in case preparations, including transporting crucial evidence to the Oregon State Police Crime Laboratory while maintaining flawless paperwork. Your occasional courtroom testimony emphasizes the importance of your work. Each day is a blend of diverse tasks vital in supporting law enforcement and serving justice in the community.Our Requirements• 18+ years or older at the time of employment• High school diploma or GED equivalent• 2+ years of general office, communications, or records management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience• No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal histories• Possess or be able to obtain a valid state driver's license by the time of hire without a record of suspension or revocation in any state• Knowledge of modern law enforcement principles, procedures, techniques, and equipment• Knowledge of computers and electronic data processing equipment and modern office practices and procedures• Knowledge of evidence handling practices and procedures: terminology, court proceedings, and related documents• Ability to read and write in the English language• Ability to type 35+ words per minute, error-free• Ability to learn the applicable laws, ordinances, and department rules and regulations• Ability to communicate effectively orally, as well as following verbal and written instructions• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, peers, and supervisors• Ability to learn the city's geography• Ability to maintain confidentialityJOIN US AT THE CITY OF ST.
