ELKHART COUNTY GOVERNMENTAL POSITION VACANCY NOTICE
9-1-1 DISPATCHER/OPERATOR (COMM TECH I/II)
DEPARTMENT: Elkhart County 9-1-1 (PSCC)
HIRING RANGE: Starting $20.00/hour (CT I) and upwards from $22.00/hour depending on experience (CT II)

POSITION TO BE FILLED: ASAP
HOURS & DAYS OF WORK: MUST be available to work any shift assigned (days, afternoons, nights, weekends, and holiday coverage)
This is a 24-hour operation and a 40-hour work week
LOCATION OF POSITION: Elkhart County Public Safety Communications Center (911)

Job Summary
This is an entry level position for extensive training in the (911) dispatch routine and qualification as a Communications Tech II; responsible for multiple activities in the emergency response process; will answer and dispatch multiple personnel in response to telephone calls regarding emergency and potentially life-threatening situations; responsible for operation of IDACS computer terminal, maintenance of records, and appropriate response to calls following set guidelines.
Job Requirements
• High School diploma or GED
• Will be expected to meet qualifications for a Communications Tech II, be certified as an IDACS computer operator and CPR certification within 6 months
• Ability to perform multiple tasks, work at a computer terminal and enter data
• Pre-employment background check and polygraph
• Good typing skills (Minimum of 35 wpm)
