Nursing Unit Manager (RN) Overview:
The Nursing Unit Manager (RN) is responsible for overseeing nursing staff and coordinating nursing service activities during scheduled shifts, ensuring safe and effective patient care in line with facility policies and objectives. This role includes maintaining effective communication between shifts to ensure continuity of care and stepping in for the ADON and Director of Nursing as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
• Interpret facility policies and state regulations related to nursing services.
• Participate in the implementation of safety protocols within the facility.
• Communicate with the ADON about nursing activities, needs, and any unusual incidents.
• Recommend the procurement of nursing supplies and equipment.
• Conduct routine checks on staff, timecards, equipment, and supplies.
• Provide recommendations to the ADON and Director of Nursing regarding hiring, promotions, and disciplinary actions for nursing staff.
• Assist in developing in-service education programs and evaluate their effectiveness for necessary adjustments.
• Investigate and report any complaints.
• Assume charge responsibilities on the floor in the absence of the charge nurse.
