Nature and Scope:
The Aquatarium in Brockville is on the lookout for a passionate and committed educator to fill the role of Education Coordinator. This individual will thrive in a collaborative environment, dedicated to delivering exceptional educational experiences. They will enjoy interacting with people of all ages, with a particular focus on children. The primary objective of this position is to facilitate learning experiences on our exhibit floor, encompassing tours, educational programs, and guest interactions centered around the Thousand Islands. Additionally, the Education Coordinator will provide ongoing support to our education staff and volunteers.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Leading and supporting educators and volunteers in facilitating learning throughout the Aquatarium.
• Recruit and manage team members, holding them to a high standard of performance and ensuring compliance with all Aquatarium personnel policies and procedures.
• Create and maintain an active staff and volunteer handbook, along with an ongoing training program.
• Communicate and coordinate scheduling, training, and supervision for staff and or volunteers where applicable.
• Actively engage and energize staff members, volunteers, board members, event committees, partnering organizations, donors, and grant funders in relation to the Education Department.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Deliver engaging, hands-on programs to children and adults alike with a focus on Science and Technology, Environmental Studies and Social Studies.
• Foster a strong knowledge of natural history, and the geography and history of the local area.
• Assist with developing and delivering hands-on activities (e.g. educational programs and workshops) that will engage visitors and that will creatively link to stories of the 1000 islands.
• Support the maintenance of a safe, clean, and well-organized floor environment through the direction of the Education Manager.

• Maintain high standards of professionalism at all times.
• Able to work independently or as a team member.
Sundry:
• Any other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations or Education Manager.
Required Skills and Experience:
• Outstanding leadership skills; leadership experience considered an asset
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience working with children or adults in a group setting
• Clear Criminal Reference Check
• COVID Vaccination
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR B or C
• Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50lbs
• French is an asset
Work Environment:
• This is 40 hour/week position
• Will be required to work weekends, holidays, and evenings
• Outdoor work may occasionally be required.
Compensation:
• Pay Rate $40,000 /year
