About the Agency: The Mississippi Public Service Commission supervises and regulates certain communication companies, electric, gas, water, and sewer utilities. It is the Commission's responsibility to see that rates and charges for service are just and reasonable, that approved rates are adhered to, that utility service is reasonably adequate, and that facilities constructed or acquired by utilities are required to serve the public. The agency is divided into three districts: Northern, Central, and Southern. This opening is for the Central District. The Central District serves 22 counties and is headquartered in Jackson. What you'll need to be Successful: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Including Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. A Highschool degree or GED Equivalent, Experience with office equipment (i.e., fax, printer, scanner, etc.). Written and verbal communication skills, multitasking and time management skills, ability to be present in the office during regular business hours, and a professional attitude and appearance.

Preferred Qualifications: Typically requires High School Diploma or equivalent and 6-8 years of experience, two years of which must have included line or project supervision. **Agency Preferred Qualifications: Five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in a similar position.

Examples of Work

This is Customer Service Representative supervisory work. The incumbent participates in the work of all staff involved in customer service activities within a specific area or function. At this level, incumbents represent the agency to internal and external stakeholders in a customer service function and intervene when necessary to address and resolve customer related needs or issues. Employees gather and analyze data related to the quality and performance of customer service employees and processes and recommend policy changes as necessary. Employee supervision includes hire recommendations, training, planning, and assigning work, performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline. In addition, employees will be expected to have the knowledge and skills to perform and review the work overseen to train, supervise, and evaluate staff, and evaluate processes and make policy recommendations.
