A six partner, locally owned firm with offices in Carleton Place, Cobden, Morrisburg, Pembroke and Winchester, our over 70 staff serve companies at all stages of their development from emerging and owner-managed businesses to large private companies, not-for-profit organizations, professionals, and individuals.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
• Review complex Canadian individual and corporate tax returns and other tax work prepared by staff
• Review and approve technical research and tax planning recommendations for private companies
• Deliver high quality tax planning, services, and advice
• Work closely with Tax Partners and other senior staff on business tax compliance, tax provision and tax advisory engagements
• Lead special tax engagements
• Actively mentor and coach staff to their highest potential
• Build and manage client relationships at a senior level within core hours of 9:30 to 4 and identify client service opportunities
A successful candidate will have:
• Canadian Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) or equivalent
• Successful completion of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course or Master of Tax Program
• 7+ years of public accounting experience with a tax specialty
• Excellent technical knowledge of Canadian tax related issues and of GAAP requirements for tax provisions
• High proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams), Caseware/Caseview, TaxPrep, and tax research software
• Excellent attention to detail, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication, project management and organizational skills
• Strong leadership skills and ability to coach and develop team members
• Ability to effectively pivot between tasks, prioritize and manage deliverables to meet conflicting deadlines
