The Algonquin Resort, part of the Marriott Autograph Collection, is a historic gem offering a unique blend of luxury and coastal charm. Nestled in St. Andrews by the Sea, we are committed to providing exceptional guest experiences. This iconic gem will be embarking on a full renovation of all guestrooms, public areas, event spaces, dining experiences and the addition of a new build nordic spa – the perfect melding of history with modern amenities.

We are seeking a strategic and dynamic Director of Sales & Marketing to lead the charge with repositioning, sales and marketing initiatives.

THE ROLE:

The Director of Sales & Marketing will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive sales and marketing strategies that align with the resort’s vision and goals. This role is vital in leading our team in driving revenue growth, enhancing brand visibility, and attracting new clientele during our transformative journey and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:
• Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement innovative sales and marketing plans to drive occupancy and revenue across all resort offerings, including accommodations, dining, events, golf and spa services.
• Brand Management: Ensure consistent brand messaging across all channels, aligning with the Marriott Autograph Collection standards and the unique character of the Algonquin Resort. Liaise with Marriott brand to leverage and maximize available resources
• Market Analysis: Conduct in-depth market research to identify trends, competitive positioning, and customer preferences, using insights to inform strategic decisions.
• Digital Marketing: Oversee digital marketing initiatives, including social media, email campaigns, and website content, to enhance online presence and engagement.
• Partnership Development: Foster relationships with relevant businesses, tourism organizations, and influencers to expand outreach and drive referrals.
• Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the sales and marketing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, and accountability.
• Performance Monitoring: Analyze sales and marketing performance metrics, adjusting strategies to optimize results and achieve revenue targets

ACTIVITIES:

The duties of the Director of Sales & Marketing include, but are not limited to the following:
• Strategist for Sales, Marketing and Profitability Initiatives;
• Develop and implement a sales & marketing plan and budget to achieve established sales objectives;
• Manage turnover and work in parallel with the General Manager and revenue manager to maximize sales and profits and establish a pricing and selling price strategy;
• Provide the team with resources, training, coaching and moral support to do a good job and achieve assigned goals. Provide orientation and ongoing development support, ensuring that training programs are consistent with individual career goals;
• Coach and energize the sales force in order to create a sales culture within a team of competent, efficient and united members who want to maximize their abilities;
