JOB DESCRIPTION: School Food Service Assistant
QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrates aptitude for successful performance of the tasks listed. Should be able to read, write, and follow directions.
REPORTS TO: School Food Service Manager
Performance Responsibilities
• Serve breakfast and lunch to students daily during the school year.
• Enter students ID cards for breakfast and lunch using POS System.
• Mops, sweeps, cleans and keeps orderly assigned areas, demonstrating a knowledge of the use and storage of cleaning supplies.
• Some with lifting required daily.
• Participates in staff development, other school food service training, and professional organizations.
• Communicates and works well with students to create a pleasant, caring atmosphere.
• Follows personal grooming and dress code.
• Cooperates with manager, principal, and co-workers.
• Follows instructions and carries out any responsibility related to school food service assigned by the School Food Service Manager, Principal, or School Food Services Director.
• Follows health, sanitation and safety standards.
• Follows the daily work schedule and performs additional tasks as requested by the School Food Service Manager.
• Helps students who need assistance at mealtime.
• Plans for the use of left-over food with the manager and assumes responsibility for storage and disposal of unused foods.
• Performs major cleaning of refrigerators, freezers, and store rooms at regularly scheduled intervals as designated by the School Food Service Manager.
• Assists in the daily clean up of the dining area, serving area.
• Keeps serving counter replenished, neat, and clean.
• Maintains required forms and records as assigned.
• Practices procedures in food preparation, use and care of equipment.
