What you'll be doing:

The position provides technical operations and oversight of the City’s network and server infrastructure, including security, data center, wireless, and edge facilities. This position assists in documenting and supporting eight physical locations' network and server initiatives.

Essential Job Functions
• Responsible for all aspects of network engineering and server administration including support of the domain's hardware, networks, and systems.
• Designs network and server solutions utilizing standard industry tools.
• Documents network environments, including physical configuration, inventory, maintenance information, network connections, firmware versions, and connections between the data center and edge locations.
• Maintains and updates firmware and patching of all network systems
• Performs regular backups to include disaster recovery testing, planning and execution
• Drafts departmental technical policies and procedures related to the network environment as requested by the IT Manager.
• Monitors and maintains the network server environment.
• Handles tier 2-3 helpdesk issues.
• Provides security, monitoring, and reporting for all network utilization.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field. Master's degree preferred
• Four (4) years of experience in network management, configuration, and implementation.
• Experience with cloud based services such as Office 365/Azure
• Experience with VMware ESXI/Microsoft Hypervisor
• Experience with Windows Server and Services (DHCP, DNS, Active Directory)
• Experience with NAS/SAN storage devices.
• Experience with WAN, Lan, Wireless, Edge, SDWAN, MPLS, and Cloud infrastructures
• Must possess a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
• Must possess FEMA 100, 200, 700, and 800 certifications or the ability to obtain them within the first six (6) months of employment.
• Security experience is preferred.

• Knowledge of Microsoft Azure and Office 365
• Knowledge of Virtualization and server hardware
• Knowledge of Firewalls, Routers, Switches
• Knowledge of computing and information technology terminology, practices, and processes
• Knowledge of windows operating systems and associated technologies
• Knowledge of theory and operation of a data center installation
• Knowledge of the latest methodologies and developments in the field of computer technology
• Knowledge of concepts of business processing, database, and networking operations
• Knowledge of Network OSI Model
• Knowledge of Network Cabling
• Ability to manage and maintain HCI systems and virtual servers.
• Ability to provide excellent customer service
• Ability to plan and implement technical work projects
• Ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships
• Ability to operate other IT-related equipment such as audio and visual systems. (Video conferencing, auditorium microphone\speakers\displays, signage TVs)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
• Work environment is typically performed in a dynamic environment that requires sensitivity and responsiveness to changes that include goals, priorities, and needs of the organization and position.
• The light work requires occasional exerting of up to 20 pounds of force and up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.
• Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: manual dexterity, hearing, lifting, mental acuity, speaking, standing, talking, and visual acuity.
