Summary

Imagine starting your career as a Legal Administrative Specialist (Assignment), working in an office that is on the cutting edge of planning, developing, implementing and evaluating all initiatives needed to support the examination and registration of trademarks throughout the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Qualifications

You must meet the United States Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) qualification requirements (including specialized experience and/or educational requirements) for the advertised position. You must meet all eligibility and qualifications requirements by the closing date of the job announcement. OPM Qualifications Standards are available at General Legal and Kindred Administration Series-0901. Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped applicants with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the federal service. Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience serving as a technical and administrative liaison (i.e., providing customer service) regarding the legal procedures of the assignment recordation process; and Experience facilitating the process of refund requests for recording fees and requests for corrections of assignment documents; and Experience collecting and analyzing information pertaining to the assignment recordation process in order to make recommendations for process improvement. OR A master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. OR Combination of qualifying graduate education and experience. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
