Job Title: Backup/Storage Administrator L2 Department/Division: SDC-IT-System Location: Dubai Job Purpose: The Backup/Storage Administrator (L2) will be primarily responsible for the day-to-day administration of EMC, HP, and IBM storage technologies. The role includes managing backup solutions such as Networker, Veeam, Commvault, and NetBackup, making architectural design improvements to the backup and storage infrastructure, and supporting subsystems. Minimum Qualifications/Education/Experience/Training/Knowledge: Qualifications and Education: Bachelor s degree in Computer Science / Information Technology or an equivalent professional qualification in a related engineering discipline. Experience: At least 5+ years of experience in managing and maintaining storage and backup infrastructure for critical business applications and servers. Hands-on experience with EMC, HP, IBM storage SAN systems (e.g., VxRail appliance), hardware maintenance, and software upgrades. Knowledge: Expertise in Backup Technologies Networker, Data Domain, Commvault, Veeam, NetBackup, and Tape Libraries. Proficiency in DELL EMC Unity, HP MSA, HP 3PAR, DELL Data Domain, IBM SAN Storage, and SAN Switches. Experience with DELL PowerEdge physical servers. Job Accountabilities and Current Objectives: Key Responsibilities: 1. Storage Management: Administer SAN FC switches and blade chassis FC devices. Manage FC zoning, snapshots, and recovery methods for storage volumes. Execute cross-site replication for disaster recovery. Monitor IO performance of production databases, provide architecture recommendations, and address bottlenecks. Maintain comprehensive records for storage and FC systems. Collaborate with DBAs and Operations to ensure optimal storage performance. 2. Backup Management: Resolve daily backup failures and maintain backup appliances. Maintain and support tape libraries, annual disaster recovery testing, and backup tape replacements. Update Platform DR Runbook based on changes, ensuring RTO/RPO adherence. Handle incidents requiring physical troubleshooting or vendor hardware replacements. Monitor license utilization and provide recommendations. 3. Other Responsibilities: Ensure system scalability, performance, and optimal configuration for storage and backup environments. Perform proactive capacity planning, performance control, and configuration adjustments. Implement security measures for storing and safeguarding data. Maintain documentation for configuration, operations, troubleshooting, and service records. Analyze system performance and provide reports. Communication and Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with various departments and external stakeholders. Report to the Team Leader on daily operational needs, incidents, and business requirements. Operating Environment: The role involves working during standard office hours with the requirement to be available on a 24x7x365 basis for emergencies or critical incidents.
