JOB SUMMARY:
The primary responsibility of the Farm Technician/Operator will be to assist the General Manager in executing daily farming, maintenance, and potato storage operations. This includes ensuring efficient function of all cultivating, planting, irrigating, chemical/fertilizer application, harvesting, and storage/sorting activities. This role involves active participation in said activities, while maintaining accurate records of production. This is an active farming role, and successful applicants are expected to perform required duties in inclement weather should it be required.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform Farming Activities: Participate in the execution of cultivating, seed cutting, planting, irrigating, chemical application, and potato harvest activities.
• Maintain and Repair Equipment: Ensure all farm equipment, conveyance equipment, and vehicles are in good working order. Make in-field repairs as needed on farm machinery.
• Product Shipping/Delivery: Participate in shipping potatoes throughout the season, either as a truck driver (valid license required) or in the storage facility loading process.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of production metrics, Canada GAP Food Safety material, inputs, and harvest data. Data to be recorded/updated digitally.
• Operational Support: Provide hands-on support in the field/shop/storage facility and fill in for absent team members when needed.
• Communication and Coordination: Work closely with the General Manager and farm team to ensure clear communication and efficient workflow throughout the season.
• Compliance and Safety: Ensure all activity complies with Canada GAP standards and with associated health, safety, and environmental regulations.

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
The successful applicant will frequently communicate with the General Manager and farming crew to coordinate work. Occasional communication with office staff, vendors, and industry contacts may be required.
TRAINING:
• On-the-job training will be provided, as needed.
• Additional training may also be provided, as needed.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The Farm Technician/Operator will generally work 50 hours per week but may be required to work additional hours during peak seasons. The schedule is subject to change to meet organizational needs, especially during busy farming periods. The role frequently involves fieldwork, with expected exposure to environmental conditions such as sun, wind, rain, snow and varying temperatures.

REMUNERATION:
Remuneration for this position is based on experience and quality of work. Range for this position is between $26 and $30 per hour. Incumbents of this position accrue 4% (2 weeks) vacation which may be taken as paid vacation time off or paid out (after 3 months) upon request.
