About The Position
• Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN) **Job Specialty:** Emergency Room **Job Duration:** 9 months **Shift:** 12-hour night shift (3x12 hours) **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week **Experience:** Minimum years of experience not specified **License:** State RN license or RN license from a participating state in the NLC **Certifications:** - American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or ENPC Certification - NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification - Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) Certification **Must-Have:** - Associate Degree in Nursing (Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred) - Competency in relevant skills and certifications **Job Description:** - Assess patients' physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interview, and review of medical records and clinical data. - Evaluate patients' responses and intervene to ensure optimal patient outcomes. - Develop and implement patient care plans, observing outcomes in line with nursing standards and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. - Demonstrate competency in various therapeutic/diagnostic interventions, including IVs, incision/wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections. - Promote, advocate, and collaborate to protect patients' health, safety, and rights. - Provide patient/family education based on assessment of learning readiness, needs, and ability, and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching. - Recognize the patient or designee as a full partner in providing compassionate and coordinated care, respecting patients’ preferences, values, and needs. - Deliver relationship-based care with respect for cultural differences and human diversity. - Delegate to non-RN personnel in accordance with state regulations and hospital policies. - Use time, personnel, equipment, and supplies effectively for high-quality, cost-effective patient care. - Serve as a professional role model for staff, demonstrating the ethical, legal, and professional nursing process. - Manage resources and patient flow by matching nursing competencies to individual patient and unit needs. - Utilize care standards, hospital policies, and regulatory guidelines in practice. - Function effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making for quality patient care. - Precept/mentor new staff or nursing students as needed. - Seek learning opportunities and continuing education to maintain skills and competency. - Keep professional records proving competency and lifelong learning. - Evaluate personal integrity and nursing practice against professional standards and regulations; take action to achieve identified goals. - Participate in hospital and unit-based meetings and commit to continuous quality improvement through data measurement. - Engage in unit-based quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and research activities. - Use current healthcare research and evidence to enhance clinical knowledge and role performance.
