Program Director for Integrated Behavioral Health

Lead the Integrated Behavioral Health operations as the new Program Director at Pediatric Physicians’ Organization at Children’s (PPOC), supporting pediatric care excellence in the heart of Massachusetts.
The Position
• The Program Director is responsible for developing and overseeing the Behavioral Health Integration Program (BHIP) to support the organization’s mission of achieving better health outcomes, enhanced care quality, improved health equity, and provider well-being, all while optimizing cost efficiency.
• Reporting to the PPOC Senior Director of Quality and Patient Safety and works in close collaboration with the PPOC Associate Medical Director for Behavioral Health and Chief Medical Officer, this leader will oversee a team of four direct reports and over 100 FTEs.
• This leader will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, supporting the development of learning communities, and managing the recruitment and hiring of clinical staff.
• The PPOC Behavioral Health Integration Program (BHIP) is a strategic and collaborative effort to incorporate mental health services within the routine care provided to patients in pediatric primary care medical homes. BHIP addresses three foundational issues to create and support a more capable medical home team:
• Integrating behavioral health providers (clinical psychologists, social workers, mental health counselors) in the medical home to provide assessment and brief evidence-based treatment for patients, and clinical consultation to pediatric practitioners and care coordinators.
• Delivering education and skills training to improve the medical home team’s comfort and skill in managing behavioral health concerns.
• Providing rapid response, case-focused consultative support from child psychiatrists and substance abuse and other sub-specialists (early childhood, autism spectrum).
• Responsible for educating the team on quality improvement initiatives and introducing new practices that support the organization's goals, ensuring alignment between care standards and strategic objectives.
• Ideal candidates will be passionate leaders with experience in Integrated Behavioral Health, demonstrating kindness, collaboration, and a professional demeanor. The ability to mentor, educate, and hold staff accountable, while effectively managing a dynamic team and evolving environment, will be essential.
• This position will be based at PPOC and will regularly travel to various satellite offices.
• Candidate will have a medical staff appointment at Boston Children's Hospital.
• Candidate also may be eligible for a faculty appointment at Harvard Medical School at the Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor level commensurate with experience and with the requirement of ongoing teaching of Harvard learners.
Requirements
• A Doctoral degree in Psychology is required.
• An active Psychologist license in MA is required.
• A minimum of five years of experience in clinical psychology is required, with specific experience in pediatric integrated behavioral health highly preferred.
• Knowledge of evidence-based practices in behavioral health and expertise in program development and implementation.
• Strong knowledge of quality and performance improvement processes is required.

The Organization
• The Pediatric Physicians' Organization at Children’s (PPOC), established in 1999, is one of the largest pediatric-focused Independent Practice Associations (IPA) in the United States.
• It comprises over 500 pediatric primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and integrated behavioral health clinicians in more than 100 locations across Massachusetts.
• All PPOC providers are members of the Boston Children’s Hospital medical staff, serving more than 425,000 children and accounting for approximately 30% of the Commonwealth's pediatric population.
• The PPOC is fully integrated with Boston Children’s Hospital, working collaboratively with specialists and managing the Epic EHR for its network.
• PPOC providers are engaged in pioneering research and quality initiatives, with a strong focus on patient-centered care and the use of advanced technology to support exceptional outcomes.
