Medicine Hat College is welcoming applications for a Lead Agronomist Researcher to lead the establishment of a five years applied research program focused on technology, science, and business innovation within the agricultural sector. This is a 5 year contract position.
A little about the role:
The Lead Agronomist Researcher will play a critical role in leading the inception and implementation of a comprehensive applied research program, targeting key areas of technology, science, and business innovation within the agricultural landscape, with an emphasis on soil health. This position will oversee the design and execution of applied research projects aimed at addressing challenges in agriculture, such as labor shortages, resource optimization, and climate change impacts. The role requires strong leadership to foster collaboration between faculty, students, and external partners, ensuring that the research aligns with both institutional goals and the needs of the agricultural sector.
Details:
As a successful applicant you'll have:
• Bachelor's degree in agriculture, agronomy, or a related field (master's degree preferred).
• Experience in designing, managing, and/or participating in applied research projects, particularly in the agricultural sector.
• Experience with soil health, crop management, or sustainable farming practices.
• Strong connections among the agricultural community in southeast Alberta.
