Location: The Plantation at Ponte Vedra Beach

Job Summary:

The Plantation at Ponte Vedra Beach is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to join our team. This position will be responsible for developing and administering policies and procedures relating to financial matters such as preparing financial statements, forecasts, budgets and audit work papers. The incumbent will also evaluate and interpret operating results in terms of costs, budgets, policies of operation and increased profit opportunities. Provides analysis for all financial matters. This role reports to the General Manager/Chief Operating Officer.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Financial Strategy : Collaborate with executive team to develop a financial strategy.
  2. Budget : Lead the annual budgeting process and long-term financial planning, taking into account the unique dynamics for each department.
  3. Financial Planning and Analysis : Oversee budgeting and forecasting efforts to optimize resource allocation. Analyze financial data and trends to offer insights for decision-making. Offer financial analysis, performance metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to facilitate informed strategic decisions.
  4. Financial Policy Development : Implement and uphold financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  5. Capital Expenditure Management : Assess capital investments and projects to bolster strategic initiatives and oversee capital expenditure budgets.
  6. Tax Compliance : Serve as primary contact for tax planning, strategy and preparation. Ensure accurate and timely tax filings, prepare, and submit federal, state, and local tax returns based upon regulatory requirements. Keep track of new and revised regulatory requirements to ensure continuous compliance.
  7. Risk Management : Identify and oversee financial risk management, encompassing market, operational, and compliance risks, and implement strategies for risk mitigation. Conduct annual risk insurance reviews to ensure proper coverage is maintained. Assist with policy review and the purchase of new policies and make certain business is in compliance with state and local requirements.
  8. Financial Reporting and Compliance : Ensure precise and timely financial reporting, covering monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements while overseeing compliance with all pertinent accounting standards and regulations. Present financial results at leadership meetings.
  9. Treasury and Cash Flow Management : Enhance working capital by effectively managing cash flow, closely monitoring daily cash balances, cash flow projections, and liquidity requirements. Analyze and address discrepancies in cash flow to ensure appropriate funding. Serve as Treasurer for the LRCA.
  10. IT Infrastructure and Systems Integration : Collaborate with IT and Operations departments to guarantee the security and functionality of financial systems and software integration. Explore possibilities for automation and process enhancement. Oversee purchase order system.
  11. Team Leadership : Lead in developing the finance and accounting team (technically and interpersonally), offering guidance and mentorship to cultivate a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.

Additional Duties: Membership

  1. Manages and monitors membership retention.
  2. Maintain member information in the accounting system to ensure proper administration of their membership.
  3. Ensures that applications are completely and properly filled out, and fees are collected pursuant to the community guidelines.
  4. Effectively responds to member comments in accordance with Association standards, policies, and rules; seeks feedback and suggestions to continuously improve the service provided to our membership.
  5. Develop and adhere to a departmental budget; after approval, monitors and takes corrective action as necessary to help assure that budgets are attained.
  6. Oversee preparation of periodic membership reports.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or a related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
  2. Proven track record in a senior financial leadership role.
  3. Strong Understanding of financial management, budgeting, and financial analysis.
  4. Excellent knowledge of financial regulations, reporting, and compliance.
  5. Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  6. Team player.

The employee regularly comes into contact with others and the noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate in nature in an office environment with frequent travel to a variety of locations on our campus.
