The Cantorial Soloist works in collaboration with the Senior Rabbi, the Assistant Rabbi, and the Accompanist to plan and lead worship services and engage congregants in Jewish music and cultural arts experiences. This part-time position offers the Cantorial Soloist the opportunity to be part of a talented and highly collaborative professional team.
Cantorial Soloist – $25,000-30,000/year
Shabbat
· Lead Shabbat worship services (3-4 Friday nights per month, approximately 4 Saturday morning b’nai mitzvah services during the 2024-25 Jewish calendar year, and occasional non-b’nai-mitzvah Saturday mornings as decided in consultation with the Senior Rabbi).
Participate (by Zoom or in person) in a weekly 1-hour clergy team meeting to plan Shabbat services.
· Participate in a weekly one-hour rehearsal for Shabbat services with the clergy team and Accompanist on Friday afternoons.
Holidays and special events
· Participate in all High Holiday planning meetings and rehearsals with the clergy team and Accompanist.
· Work with the Accompanist and Choir Director to schedule, prepare for, and participate in choir rehearsals for High Holidays, MLK Shabbat, and 2-3 additional choir performances during the 2024-25 Jewish calendar year.
· Lead services for High Holidays, Erev Sukkot, Erev Simchat Torah, Pesach 7/Yizkor morning, and Shavuot morning.
