Job Summary
Nordson - Optical Sensors and Metrology division is seeking a Production Lead for the Elk Grove Village site. The Production Lead will provide work direction, manage part shortage, achieve weekly Build Plan, and promote a continuous improvement manufacturing environment. This candidate will be the focal contact between the production cell and the cross functional team. This role will report directly to the Production Supervisor.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide work direction to production team members in assigned product cells to meet daily metrics. The Production Lead is a "working Lead" whereas approximately 80%-85% of the day is utilized to build or test products while leading and coordinating activities.
• This candidate will oversee production cell processes to support and coordinate Visual Daily Management (Safety + SQDIP), build schedules, production work orders, inventory, part shortages, cycle count and Lean activities.
• Ensure a safe manufacturing environment by directing production team members on the use of all control points, tools, and resources to maintain compliance with company policies and production procedures.
• Develops and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.
• Resolve daily tactical issues by actively working with production cell that may adversely impact performance.
• Identify, troubleshoot and resolve bottlenecks, process failures, production procedures, supply chain part shortage problems, and/or training deficiencies.
• Lead SQDIP meetings to communicate changes, improvements, and initiatives.
• Completed High School diploma or GED with minimum of two years' experience as a Senior Assembler/Technician role for 2 years.
• Must possess leadership traits: good communicator, collaborative, approachable, and a team player.
• Proficient in subassembly and main builds processes, test, and work instructions.
• Experienced in ERP systems (SAP preferred).
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred Skills and Abilities
• Preferably, completed High School diploma or GED with 4 years of leading a production cell.
• Familiar with optomechanical / electromechanical assembly operations.
• Train, coach, and mentor production team members on technology and processes. Operate well under time constraints and shifting priorities and resources.
• Having a continuous improvement mindset to bring innovative ideas to the production cell.
• Experienced in Lean manufacturing.
