Location

Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw,
GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta
Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Department Information

The Mechanical Engineering Department is the largest department in
the Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering
Technology with over 1650 undergraduate and 50 graduate students.
The department is the home of 25 nationally renowned full-time
faculty members with diverse research interests, including smart
materials, bioengineering, nanotechnology, soft robots, nuclear
energy, and aerodynamics. While focusing on the application of the
principles of mechanics and energy to design cutting-edge
technology, mechanical engineering offers students a foundation to
begin their careers in an ever-changing environment. The Mechanical
Engineering department offers a Mechanical Engineering Bachelor's
Degree, a Mechanical Engineering Master's Degree, an Aerospace
Engineering Minor, and a Nuclear Engineering Minor. The Bachelor of
Science in Mechanical Engineering program is accredited by the
Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET. More information can

Job Summary

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a
full-time, tenure-track faculty position as an Assistant Professor
of Mechanical Engineering in the Department of Mechanical
Engineering in the Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and
Engineering Technology with a preferred start date of August 2025.
This is a nine-month contracted position. This position is for work
to be performed in the state of Georgia.

Responsibilities
• Teaching undergraduate and/or graduate mechanical engineering
courses including in the areas of Dynamics and Control
Systems.
• Develop and maintain an externally funded research program in
mechanical engineering, emphasizing scholarly activities, including
peer-reviewed journal and conference publications, grant writing,
mentoring students, and developing a sustainable independent
research agenda.
• Engage in departmental, school, or university services
appropriate to the position; and advance the goals and strategic
plan of KSU.

Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC
Faculty Credentials Guidelines.

Required Qualifications
• A Terminal/Doctorate degree, or the foreign equivalent, in
Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline is required. The
required degree must be earned by the start date.

Preferred Qualifications
• Relevant teaching experience
• Evidence of scholarly work and creative activities such as
external funding, mentoring students in research, and peer-reviewed
publications
• Experience teaching online or hybrid courses
• Post-doc experience
