Speech-Language Pathologist – Elementary .7 FTE. 1/21/25 through end of 2024/2025 school year
(.7 FTE-Long-Term Substitute)
Position Summary:
The Acton-Boxborough Regional School District Public Schools, a prek-12 district, is seeking a part-time Speech-Language Pathologist to work at the elementary school level within the Pathways Program. Pathways is a substantially separate K-6 program that uses principles of ABA teaching in instruction. The SLP works as a member of the special education team providing direct and consultative services for children with Autism, communication and other disabilities. The SLP collaborates with teachers, special educators, BCBAs, OTs, general educators, and parents to develop and implement individual or group programs, and support student communication skills across settings. Services on a pull out basis and/or within the context of a specialized program.
Successful candidates should have extensive knowledge and experience with AAC and assistive technologies. Successful candidates must have demonstrated success with and be knowledgeable about a variety of interventions for students with this learning profile. Experience and training in social skill and pragmatic language development a must. Must be willing to co-treat and co-teach.
In addition to direct student services, the Speech-Language Pathologist is responsible for the evaluation of caseload students. Candidate must have training and experience with the administration and interpretation of a wide range of assessments and evaluation tools.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Plan for the effective specialized instruction and intervention for students on IEPs in the Pathways Program;
• Administer formal diagnostic assessments and tests for students initially referred and for three-year reevaluations of caseload students;
• Administer ongoing progress monitoring, strategic monitoring and benchmark systems;
• Write comprehensive progress reports and IEPs
• Collaborate with program staff and general educators with respect to appropriate services, accommodations and modifications;
• Provide ongoing positive communication with parents;
• Collect and analyze student data against IEP goals
Qualifications:
• Licensed by the Commonwealth of MA as Speech Language Pathologist
• Licensed by Massachusetts Department of Education as a Teacher of Speech, Language and Hearing Disorders, CCC-SLP preferred
• Knowledge of technologies to enhance communication
• Successful public school experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist
• Knowledge of research-based practices and interventions to address communication
• Knowledge and training in social skills interventions
• Excellent oral and written communication skills required
